Work Perspective”Work it and Keep it”

Genesis 2:15 “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it.”

Humans were uniquely designed to do work. And God so great and mighty he taught us how to deal with it.

He gave us work in a form of a blessing. But some of us cannot see that as a blessing because work can cause great frustration. Have you seen people venting out in social media because of their career? Have you met a friend complaining at the end of his shift? And have you realize that you are one of them?

It is an acceptable feeling of frustration because anybody at work will undergo that. There will be a time in your life that you will feel weary.  You think people and circumstances were unfair.  That you are waiting for your credentials of your hard work but circumstances play its part too.

Our careers provide many benefits, giving us skills and experience that will allow us to grow. But our attitude and characteristic in facing it is very opposite especially when you are working in a group or in a crowd.

When we feel so negative at work, we feel so exhausted and we want to quit! We feel dissuaded and our actions are affected. When we feel dissuaded our perspective changes too. There is a reason in every discouragement but not acceptable to tolerate.

It is really normal to experience discouragement and frustration in a workplace. But when circumstances and feelings are in high peak humans has a tendency to react vulnerably.

We usually react like these:

You caught yourself mumbling and grumbling. You complain every morning and wished it was day off. You don’t pass the evaluation of punctuality .You tend to work slow and have some idle moments. You despise others and don’t care of them. You feel they don’t care so you follow their footsteps. You don’t hit your monthly quota because you feel you don’t have credits on it even you hit it. You complain of your salary, schedule and position and demand of it. And now everything is turns undesirable.

But what’s wrong? Who is wrong? Is it you or is it them?

There is a saying that learning is a process and I agree. Every predicament at work is a learning process for everyone. No one’s fault and no one has to blame. This is the challenge for those who are in favor and those who are not.

Yes! As for you, you tried so hard. And you see some of them not working so hard but get credits. Is it envious to react that way? Just think of it that you are two different individual. His/her standards and perspective of hard work is different from yours.

Be reminded that for those whose trail is to get-rich quick-schemes, these are really “worthless pursuits” that “lacks sense.”  There is no shortcut to hard work. Hard work always pays off, if not in this life, in the life to come. So be blessed!

No matter what the situation is. It is you who will be the one to decide. Will you swerve your cart into a damaging side and wait for yourself to quit. Or will you respond to it accordingly?

How will you handle it when you will have days like this? Have we not forgotten? That we applied for a Job and prayed of it then God answered! Consider this moment as sharpening of your character.

Instead of feeling sorry, frustrated and envious, be thankful! Do not hate your job because it’s a gift from God. Your career is a holy vocation and not just a job. This is our inheritance and our service to God. Always work as if you were working for God.

Sometimes we have those days when we just feel down but don’t tame those feelings. There is no better person to turn to then to God who provide everything.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

You may ask yourself that “This is not right! They must learn too!” Or “I must have my reward fairly.” But who are we to say that? Even Jesus The son of God became a slave .He suffered and died for our sins. In addition, Christ didn’t ask people to treat him fairly.

Problems, struggles and challenges at work will never run out of flair. But your respond to it will make a difference .It will hone you.

Instead of grumbling be thankful that you still have that Job. Not everyone has it.

Instead of complaining praise him for he gave you the opportunity to share his glory in your work place. You are given the opportunity to work for him

Instead of working slow and having some idle moments think of it that God is watching over you. And remind yourself that idle hands will never get anything done.

Instead of despising others, focus on yourself in improvements and correct your lapses.Try to talk to them if you got a chance. How you treat your boss, officials and co-workers is how you treat God as well.

Instead worrying of your quota be at your best and seek God.

Instead complaining of your salary, position and schedule, be contented. Look unto him and pray. Miracles do happen!

And if there will be a time in your life you become so weak, weary and your out of pace . Let us remind ourselves with these words:

  1. Philippians 2:14Do everything without grumbling or arguing,
  2. Proverbs 12:24 Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.
  3. Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how thatso labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
  4. Proverbs 13:4 Lazy people want much but get little, butthose who work hard will prosper.
  5. 2 Thessalonians 3:11-12 We hear that some people in your group refuse to work. They are doing nothing except being busy in the lives of others. Our instruction to them is to stop bothering others, to start working and earn their own food. It is by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ that we are urging them to do this.
  6. Proverbs 4:14-17Don’t take the path of the wicked; don’t follow those who do evil. Stay away from that path; don’t even go near it. Turn around and go another way. The wicked cannot sleep until they have done something evil. They will not rest until they bring someone down. Evil and violence are their food and drink.
  7. Philippians 4:13 ForI can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
  8. Revelation 2:2-3 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
  9. 1 Corinthians 4:12-13We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us. We appeal gently when evil things are said about us. Yet we are treated like the world’s garbage, like everybody’s trash–right up to the present moment.
  10. Romans 12:11-12Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.

” Praise be thy Father for the great testing! Praise be thy father for the great understanding. May your word reign on us forever”
