Learning Jonah’s Way

Jonah 4:2-3New International Version (NIV)

He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

Jonah knew God is gracious and compassionate. God wants to bring salvation of the Great City of Nineveh! Nineveh was the Capital City of Assyria; the city full of wickedness. Though Jonah was running away, his thoughts are little far more than the thoughts and ways of God. He was afraid that the Land might destroy him and our God. He considered Nineveh as the enemy not worthy to be saved or impossible to change. However God has a great heart because it turns out God has a great heart for the Great City. Jonah is quoting here the famous confession of God’s identity in the history of Israel, when God revealed himself to Moses on Mount Sinai. God’s love manifests itself in his accessibility to all, regardless of our reputation, nationality and race. His Grace doesn’t reach only to Israelites but to everyone.

10 But the Lord said, “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. 11 And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”

“He opens doors all around, boundless opportunities to contribute to humanity in ways large and small, to make our lives count for eternity….”

Do Not Let Go Of Passion

Every human being got passion. Humans are made to be skilled- it was given by God as a gift. It was a form of grace.  You got to know it and live with it by heart. Don’t ever let go of your passion. If you think you are good at something and you love doing it pursue it! If you feel good when you express kindness, show kindness then! If you love to give then give generously. If you are good at expressing love, be genuine. If you are good in encouraging and making instruction then do counseling. If you are good at words and sharing wisdom then evangelize or make a book. If you are good in dancing, singing, making poetry then develop it and share! Life has many to offer, you just need to discover what’s in the box!

 Romans 12: 4-8

4d For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function,5so we, though many, are one body in Christ* and individually parts of one another.6e Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them:* if prophecy, in proportion to the faith;7if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching;8if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others,* with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Before anything else..

How do you define passion?

Passion is something you love doing. It is not something you’re master of but something you love. You are driven to do it because you got that desire. God poured us with passion because God is love. Therefore passion is love.

James 1:17-18 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.”

Sometimes passion is being left out; we slip it away in our heart. There is some point in life that we are going downhill. We are discourage, disturb, upset, we lose hope, self-esteem is low, we think we are not good enough. Life is changing, as well as priorities, perspectives, influence and lifestyle.

We are busy chasing people and career that we thought it can fill our emptiness. We forgot to trust God. We forgot that it is not people we need to please and glorify but God alone. We forgot to glorify him through our gifts, it turns out that we are glorifying our desire. So we got discourage and upset because we all know that humans really don’t satisfy. So Passion fades…

So we need to learn and relearn over time not to let go of God’s given passion. Once we neglect our gifts or passion with wrong reason God will remove it. We must fall in love with ourselves over and over again. And most especially to be in love everyday with God. What I mean of falling in love with ourselves is to love yourself enough just as God loves you. Always fill yourself with God’s love for you to glorify him. He gave us this character to glorify him alone.

Revelation 4:11

“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

No matter what happen. People may not believe what you could possibly do. You may feel envious because someone is good enough than you do. Do not let it in. Do not entertain those negative vibes; it is not from God but from evil. Believe in yourself and be positive about it. No one is made useless, everybody has a function. Appreciate those people doing good and getting better. They have gone also through a lot of things, you just don’t know it. So acknowledge them, you don’t know how acknowledgement can take its part of positivity. When you are down, falling apart, tired, slothful in spirit. Go and wander! Travel somewhere peaceful, find meaning and hold on to prayer. Go on and seek for him… then finally you’ll find him again. Do it day and night, these trouble shall come to pass.

Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

1 John 4:7-8  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

We were made uniquely but each one of us belong to a one body. No one is useless, everybody has a gift. Always remember that we are made to glorify him. So thank him for the passion. Do not let anyone snatch it. Don’t let him be disappointed for carelessness but work on it. Keep your passion burning

Romans 12:3

3c For by the grace given to me I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than one ought to think, but to think soberly, each according to the measure of faith that God has apportioned.

. 1 Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,  casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Psalm 115:1

Verse Concepts

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, But to Your name give glory Because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your truth

Remind me of existence

No excuse for me to say I have no time for you.
For you given me day offs and rest.
Thank you father for the miracle works you’ve done in my life.
For those days I need to compromise to your people,
And not have visited your house you provided me songs.
For those times I’m so lazy and tired,
You provided me with palms,
Nothing can part away God’s will,
He will find his way to fulfill his promise,
I don’t trust my human instinct
For I am just human with human characteristics of being self -centered and selfish,
I trust you father to hold the pen,
For my days are written in your book
Remind me of my purpose
To glorify your name is the purpose of my existence.

Dreaming The Impossible

“We have a God who delights in impossible and who asks “Is anything too hard for me?” Andrew Murray

It is in our human nature that God etched come to life questions upon of our beings. Rich or poor, successful or unsuccessful, elite or common people, famous or just an average person; they would think that their life is a mediocre, still a mediocre! Most life questions would be.. “ why is my life so mediocre, even though I’m trying to make it grand. How can I live my life that really counts? Just like in the book of Ecclesiastes, that life is useless. He could not understand the way of God who controls everything however he advised people to work hard and enjoy the gifts of God as much as long as we could.

I would really say the life is unfair. We are chasing a wind that we will never going to catch it. But that doesn’t mean we stop dreaming of impossibilities. He does not want us to be a mediocre in our life time but to live a life in an impossible way with him. He does not want us to be spoiled and self-centered person that who would boast. God does not want us to be a mediocre and a boastful person. We are just too discreet of thinking of an unfair world. When in reality life must set to be in balance for you to appreciate life better; His creations and blessings.

In my mid 20’s, my life is full of wandering. Most of the time I come to question God with random things. My belief from my childhood days does not align to what I have discovered now. That time little by little my beliefs were fading to dust. I am a positive person as always. Those things gave me motivation and determination in pursuing life. But life is not an easy path; it drops me in a dungen tunnel that I thought I would stuck forever. There are times I accepted life will always be confusing and pointless. I’m trying to fill my mind with positive and happy thoughts but my environment is a dead zone. I could not appreciate much longer. So I gave up my hopes of finding a sense of purpose in life, love that last for a lifetime and enjoying enduring friendship. Some people mocked me, put some bets on me and wear me down. People mocked the fairytale that I believed and hoped for. They told me that it does not exist and that I should wake up in reality. Sometimes when you aim from impossible you are usually mocked, misunderstood, and alienated. But through my BS experienced I see the light from the dungeon tunnel that gives direction. God knew I was confused, mad of the world, lost and broken, So he helped me to his path of hope. I was able to appreciate life in any circumstances. Then he gave me a chance to dream the impossibilities again! I realized that God wants to point out everything from these experiences.

Imagine life without a conflict, a movie without climax? A novel without adventure, a movie without goose bumps and thrill? Isn’t it mediocrisy? Then Life is boring, life is empty full, unchallenging and unchanging.
I put myself to a very successful person who achieved everything. What will he achieve next?
I put myself to a very rich person who has everything. What will they asked next when they got everything.
I put myself to a very wise person who knows everything. What else will he learn?
It its better to be half empty glass than a full empty glass. You have more time to fill in the emptiness rather than full but empty inside.

You have more time to unraveled and discover the world. Life is not exciting anymore when you have everything without God’s guidance. So that is why he made us imperfect, as well as the world. Through him we only became perfect and just. God wants us to dream the impossible dream with a humble heart and with his sovereignty power as our strength. He wants us to trust him, believe him for his power and plans are greater and magical. For his power has no limit even in the widest of horizon. God made us to be imperfect. He wants us to know who we are here on earth. He wants us to direct out the swamp of mediocrity training us to live a life that truly counts. He wants us to appreciate life in hard times, keep dreaming in hard times.

Patience is better than Pride. Just like being sorry than not being sorry…. Whatever it is…Whatever the circumstances may be, be patient and soft. See hear, pause and listen then takes sides, because pride does not do any good:

  • It prolong grudges
  • It will bring up negative temper if you dwell for too long or bitterness in a long run.
  • It will delay forgiveness  and opportunity to make peace and love.
  • It will make you selfish and greedy.
  • Blocks humility

“In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do give the devil a foothold” EPHESIAN 4:25-27. Be patient, it will slow  you to anger.  Our hearts is playful; it will easily captivate anger and doubt. So be patient! Don’t be careless of what you say. Be careful of the words you use to people.  Use kind and gentle words as much as possible.

Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen

So be patient for patience will cool you down and give you better understanding.

Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. Proverb 14:29

Do not delay to make peace. Do not wait for another year to forgive and to say sorry.  Appreciate and be thankful because chances may surpass. Lucky for those who have given the chance.   Rejoice and praise the Lord! Do not let negative temper over coat your joyful soul. Let  your joyful soul reign as it used to be. Be true and warm hearted. Ignore a person who tells you a fool for asking forgiveness, for making first move of reconciliation and remain kind despite of the mocking and bad doings of others to you. For the judgment of human being is useless than of God.

Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.10872449_683182341801481_260844199_n

Look at the city around you, how leaders govern. When leader and his servant won’t meet half way it produces chaos, they all want what they want and they tend to hate each other.

A lil pride is nice but too much of it is chaos. So think pause, reflect. How’s your relationship at work, home, friends, love ones and with God? Does patience over rule?Or does your pride?

P.S.Oh I praise the lord for the gift of wisdom today and for the rest of the day. For Iam not much of a talker and in him words flow over me,
