BIG & small

Matthew 20:16New International Version (NIV)

16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”

  • We may need to grow more in generosity and freedom from our need for money, in which case financial doors may close.
  • We may need to grow in humility, in which case grandiose wish. Fulfillment doors will be closed.
  • We may need to grow in our ability to delay gratification, in which case the ” Right now” door may be closed.
  • We may need to grow in  our ability to love our enemies or even our more prickly friends, in which case the “Lord change him” door may be closed.
  • Many doors that look large to us are small to God and many doors that look small to us are very large to him.
  • In God’s Kingdom , small is the new big. In God’s Kingdom , the way up is down and the way to living is dying.
  • So we are called to never despair, no matter how small our lives look or how many doors that we desperately wanted to go through appear to have closed.

Learning Jonah’s Way

Jonah 4:2-3New International Version (NIV)

He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

Jonah knew God is gracious and compassionate. God wants to bring salvation of the Great City of Nineveh! Nineveh was the Capital City of Assyria; the city full of wickedness. Though Jonah was running away, his thoughts are little far more than the thoughts and ways of God. He was afraid that the Land might destroy him and our God. He considered Nineveh as the enemy not worthy to be saved or impossible to change. However God has a great heart because it turns out God has a great heart for the Great City. Jonah is quoting here the famous confession of God’s identity in the history of Israel, when God revealed himself to Moses on Mount Sinai. God’s love manifests itself in his accessibility to all, regardless of our reputation, nationality and race. His Grace doesn’t reach only to Israelites but to everyone.

Additional Facts:

  • Jonah is really ” the patron saint of refused calling”
  • He calls, then one called resist for one reason or another and then there is a decision.
  • Bible is God’s Story.
  • Nineveh was the capital of Assyria. Assyria was the great world power. ” The City of Blood” as per Nahum.
  • Tarshish had a great wealth. It was pioneer in trade commerce over the sea was kind of like new technology and making some people rich.
  • He converted the sailors ” Mass Gentile conversion” Pagan boat becomes a place of worship.
  • Jonah was inside the fist for 3 days and 3 nights.
  • Priest- served in the temple , offered sacrifices , they led worship
  • Prophet- A reformer, activist- kind of trouble maker pricking people’s conscience.

Jonah 4:10-11(NIV)

10 But the Lord said, “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. 11 And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”

“GOD IS GOD OF THE OPE DOORS…

“He opens doors all around, boundless opportunities to contribute to humanity in ways large and small, to make our lives count for eternity….”

Idle

Someone told me that he will pray for my “idle character” and I smirked back! How dare he told me that when in fact even in my day offs I’m finding ways to be productive? He knew how serious I am at work.  How hard working I am in life, striving to be the best version of me.  It alarmed me really. I laughed at him and asked him “seriously?”  . I tried to defend myself  “ Oh C’mon ! I used to have my daily “ to do list,  recently I have my morning and evening routine. You know how I hate to do nothing. I was inspired by my new discovered bloggers and fond with these cool youtubers” And yes! He is serious! He stood for it and said “ You think a lot” and I was silent. I tried to listen while he was sharing his meditation. However I didn’t get over of what he told me and there I knew his point. In that moment I was able to contemplate, meditate and pray. His point is not being lazy physically but my spiritual realm is affected because of my idle mode.

When I heard the word idle, it reminds me of being lazy. Idle means simply doing nothing. But the real essence of the word is procrastinating physically, mentally and especially spiritually. It is not just being lazy and doing nothing in particular. We can identify idleness in physical realm. It is really known in physical and psychoenergetic realm. But we can’t recognize idle in our transcendental or spiritual realm. In fact once your transcendental realm is in idle, it will affect your psychoenergetic (cognitive and emotions) and physical realm subconsciously. Then what’s wrong with it? If spiritual idleness is not being recognized then it will affect your character. Let me site an example:

Once you over think you are in your idle mode. Entertaining fear, distrust, worry, judgment, and grumbling are the sign of idleness. Because when you are productive you will have no time for criticism, small talks, nonsense arguments, fear, distrust, judgment, grumbling and vulnerability.  When you are productive you are making a significant out of that thing. You produce well out of the productivity. You are rising and not falling down. You are mature enough to react and respond to a dilemma.

I realized that I over think a lot! In work, in any aspects of my life actually! And I realized that I cannot skip my spiritual realm because my strength comes from it. How can I be grateful if I don’t read my bible and meditate?  This world is rich in competition, power, treasures and critics. If I trust the lord, focus on my meditation and praise will I over think and be weary? No! I will be grateful and positive with life.

Do Not Let Go Of Passion

AAEAAQAAAAAAAAVcAAAAJDhmYjA0N2VlLWExYmMtNDg2OS1iZDBmLThiMGRiYzVhY2Y4Mw

Every human being got passion. Humans are made to be skilled- it was given by God as a gift. It was a form of grace.  You got to know it and live with it by heart. Don’t ever let go of your passion. If you think you are good at something and you love doing it pursue it! If you feel good when you express kindness, show kindness then! If you love to give then give generously. If you are good at expressing love, be genuine. If you are good in encouraging and making instruction then do counseling. If you are good at words and sharing wisdom then evangelize or make a book. If you are good in dancing, singing, making poetry then develop it and share! Life has many to offer, you just need to discover what’s in the box!

 Romans 12: 4-8

4d For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function,5so we, though many, are one body in Christ* and individually parts of one another.6e Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them:* if prophecy, in proportion to the faith;7if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching;8if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others,* with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Before anything else..

How do you define passion?

lovewhatyoudo

Passion is something you love doing. It is not something you’re master of but something you love. You are driven to do it because you got that desire. God poured us with passion because God is love. Therefore passion is love.

James 1:17-18 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.”

Sometimes passion is being left out; we slip it away in our heart. There is some point in life that we are going downhill. We are discourage, disturb, upset, we lose hope, self-esteem is low, we think we are not good enough. Life is changing, as well as priorities, perspectives, influence and lifestyle.

We are busy chasing people and career that we thought it can fill our emptiness. We forgot to trust God. We forgot that it is not people we need to please and glorify but God alone. We forgot to glorify him through our gifts, it turns out that we are glorifying our desire. So we got discourage and upset because we all know that humans really don’t satisfy. So Passion fades…

So we need to learn and relearn over time not to let go of God’s given passion. Once we neglect our gifts or passion with wrong reason God will remove it. We must fall in love with ourselves over and over again. And most especially to be in love everyday with God. What I mean of falling in love with ourselves is to love yourself enough just as God loves you. Always fill yourself with God’s love for you to glorify him. He gave us this character to glorify him alone.

Revelation 4:11

“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

No matter what happen. People may not believe what you could possibly do. You may feel envious because someone is good enough than you do. Do not let it in. Do not entertain those negative vibes; it is not from God but from evil. Believe in yourself and be positive about it. No one is made useless, everybody has a function. Appreciate those people doing good and getting better. They have gone also through a lot of things, you just don’t know it. So acknowledge them, you don’t know how acknowledgement can take its part of positivity. When you are down, falling apart, tired, slothful in spirit. Go and wander! Travel somewhere peaceful, find meaning and hold on to prayer. Go on and seek for him… then finally you’ll find him again. Do it day and night, these trouble shall come to pass.

Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

1 John 4:7-8  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

We were made uniquely but each one of us belong to a one body. No one is useless, everybody has a gift. Always remember that we are made to glorify him. So thank him for the passion. Do not let anyone snatch it. Don’t let him be disappointed for carelessness but work on it. Keep your passion burning

Romans 12:3

3c For by the grace given to me I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than one ought to think, but to think soberly, each according to the measure of faith that God has apportioned.

. 1 Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,  casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Psalm 115:1

Verse Concepts

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, But to Your name give glory Because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your truth

Remind me of existence

No excuse for me to say I have no time for you.
For you given me day offs and rest.
Thank you father for the miracle works you’ve done in my life.
For those days I need to compromise to your people,
And not have visited your house you provided me songs.
For those times I’m so lazy and tired,
You provided me with palms,
Nothing can part away God’s will,
He will find his way to fulfill his promise,
I don’t trust my human instinct
For I am just human with human characteristics of being self -centered and selfish,
I trust you father to hold the pen,
For my days are written in your book
Remind me of my purpose
To glorify your name is the purpose of my existence.
